Noah Rudd, 2024
Dr Elman Poole Music Fellow
Oboe

"I was always very tentative about coming to Europe… but it’s time. As with any classical musician coming from New Zealand, you have to go away before you can come back.”
Noah’s musical journey began with a childhood immersed in music programs and a serendipitous choice of the oboe, encouraged by supportive teachers. He honed his skills through New Zealand’s chamber music competitions, advanced studies at Auckland University and the Australian National Academy of Music, and valuable professional experiences both at home and in Australia.
At Sinfonia Smith Square, Noah thrived in a close-knit ensemble, enjoying the camaraderie, ambitious repertoire, and the unique challenges of orchestral collaboration.
Looking ahead, Noah is embracing new opportunities with the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Foyle Future Firsts Development Programme. Noah aims to build connections and continue his growth as a musician in London, while staying open to future possibilities both abroad and back in New Zealand.
