Earlier this month, as part of the Waitangi Day celebrations, Julia Maile was announced by the New Zealand Society as the 2024 UK New Zealander of the Year. She was awarded the honour by the NZ High Commissioner, Phil Goff, at the Waitangi Day Ball, a splendid ceremony hosted at the Waldorf Hilton in London.
Maile is the founder of the charity MerryGoRound, which provides ‘free bundles of pre-loved clothes, shoes and books’ to families facing hardship in the Islington and wider London communities.
