On 29 April, the New Zealand High Commission in London played host to the official launch of Kiwis In STEM, an exciting new initiative celebrating and connecting New Zealanders working across science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in the UK.
In partnership with Logan Baber and the NZUK Link Foundation, we were thrilled to bring together a room full of passionate, talented individuals for an evening of conversation, connection, and community.
The event featured a dynamic panel of Kiwi professionals who generously shared their career journeys, insights, and reflections on what it means to represent New Zealand in STEM fields abroad. With their diverse experiences, they offered valuable advice and inspiration for both established professionals and those just starting out.
We were honoured to have Deputy High Commissioner Guergana Guermanoff officially open the evening and set the tone for what turned out to be a warm and energising event. Feedback on the night was overwhelmingly positive, with fantastic energy in the room and meaningful conversations continuing well beyond the formal programme.
A huge thank you to:
Our brilliant panel – Elizabeth Grant, Sam De Silva, Florence Layburn, and Mark Finch
Moderator – Logan Baber, who helped guide the evening with great insights and flow
Deputy High Commissioner Guergana Guermanoff – for her inspiring opening words
Our event dream team – Sally Martin, Logan Baber, Kayla Pratt, Loryn, Amy, Shelly, Matt, Nu, and the incredible team at the High Commission who helped bring this vision to life
We’re incredibly proud of how this launch came together and even more excited about what lies ahead. This event marks just the beginning of Kiwis In STEM, and we’re already looking forward to future gatherings, collaborations, and opportunities to celebrate the contributions of Kiwi professionals in STEM across the UK.
Best
The KiwisInSTEM Team
