Sara Fogarty, Regional Director of KEA, UK and Europe, finished her time with Kea last week on 15 August. Whilst this will be a huge loss, we have no doubt that Sara and her whānau will remain key members of the NZ community in the UK. We would also like to thank Sara for all of the excellent help, support, and advice she gave to the NZUK Link Foundation during her time at KEA, particularly with our flagship post-COVID event at the NZ High Commission.
For anyone interested, the recruitment process for the new Regional Director role has begun; more information is available here.
In other recent news, Brigadier Lisa Ferris has been appointed as Aotearoa NZ Defence Advisor and Head of NZ Defence Staff (designate) at the New Zealand High Commission, London. Brigadier Ferris is only the second woman to be appointed Brigadier in the New Zealand Army. She is a graduate of Victoria University, School of Law and hails from Gisborne. We welcome Lisa to this key post and look forward to working with her.
Finally, The NZUK Link Foundation Trustee, Bevan Killick, has been recently announced as the British Honorary Consul in Christchurch. The role involves supporting British nationals within the Christchurch area and offering assistance to consular staff. The Link is delighted for Mr Killick, a Chartered Accountant and Honorary Captain in the Royal New Zealand Navy who spent 12 years in the UK working for Lloyd’s of London.
HE Iona Thomas OBE, the British High Commissioner to New Zealand, said: ‘I am delighted to see Bevan take up this role in the South Island. Providing consular services is an integral part of our work at the British High Commission.
There are a significant number of British nationals in New Zealand whether they are visiting or residents. Having someone based in Christchurch to assist British nationals when they are in need is a welcome support.’
Speaking on his appointment, Bevan Killick said:‘It is a great honour to have been appointed as Honorary Consul for the British High Commission. I am looking forward to playing my part in supporting British nationals who find themselves in need of assistance.’
